Solograph

A quiet place for your solo life.

I have a photo on my phone I've never shown to anyone.

It's a place I went to alone. The light that afternoon was doing something particular — the kind of light that only exists in a specific season, at a specific hour, and never comes back exactly the same way. I stood there for a long time. I was thinking about someone who wasn't there. Then I took the picture.

Not to share. Not to post. Just to keep.

Later, I changed phones. The photo migrated over. The date was still there, the pixels were still there. But that afternoon's weight — that particular, wordless feeling of standing in that light, thinking of that person — quietly disappeared. Not forgotten. Just without a place to live anymore.

We carry thousands of photographs. Most of them will outlive the feelings that made us take them. Because the feeling needed more than a file. It needed a place to stay.

I just wanted somewhere quiet. Like a journal kept in a drawer, but one that couldn't be lost when the drawer was thrown away. Like the rings of a tree — each year, another ring. You don't need to count them out loud. They are simply there, every one of them real, every one of them yours.

If you have a photo you've never sent to anyone — this is where it belongs.
